Help: Output summary statistics for different variables

I am studying in China and need some quick instruction or help if possible. I have to do a Output summary (mean, sd, max, min, N) for different variables taken from the data PISA-SH(2012), stush12.sav. from pisa 2012.acer.edu.au/downloadsFL.php

I know it is very difficult without seeing the data to help me, but I will give it a try. I know how to use SPSS but my problem is, if I look at the variables (a to e) I do not know if I should :compute, recode, standardise, compare etc....I hope you know what I mean. The variables are the following:

a) Student's family background: parental education (misced, fisced)

b) Student's school behaviour

c) Student's academic performance in math, reading, science

e) Time-Length of testing language, math and science.

If you have any thoughts on that, please let me know. Thank you for your time.
